I Made It To Plum Island But I Didn’t
I awoke bright and early giving myself 2 1/2 hours for the destination. Two hours for the drive and a half hour for traffic and getting lost. All went well, traffic was clear and I arrived early.
As I made the turn to the Visitor Center, I turned my head wondering if it was the other building and bump, I hit the curbing. I thought nothing of it until I heard that pssssssst sound with the auto slumping to the right. Oh no, flat tire. OK, a minor inconvenience, nothing I can’t handle. Out comes the jack, etc., only to discover the security lug key did not fit the lug to remove the tire. Long story short: Towed to Saturn dealership, new tire and new lugs.
Although my visit was brief due to my unfortunate mishap, it was pleasant and enjoyable to meet the various friendly faces of various blogs having the common enjoyment of birding. I wanted to rejoin the group but when the service department was able to get to my car, time was not on my side.

So, I finally made it to Plum Island but I didn’t bird at the island. However, while at the Haverhill Saturn Dealership I did see a Blue Jay, Oriole, House Sparrow, American Crow, Yellow Warbler, Chickadee and a Northern Cardinal. these birds were to far for a decent photo. As a result, above are the alternates.

Total bummer about your car! Sorry you weren’t able to catch up with us. We had a good day with lots of chatter and laughter and some good birds.

Sorry I didn’t get to meet you Andy, and sorry to hear about your misfortune. If you ask me I think we should get together again in the fall either at Plum Island or someplace else. Maybe someone should put a bug in Chris’ ear ; )

Andy, I am so sorry about the misfortune you had Saturday morning. I am glad you got it all taken care of and that no one was hurt.
