I hope to make it back before the Butterfly Zoo closes for the season to see the developed moth from this caterpillar.

As a sidenote: It was interesting that this species ate pine needles.

Scientific name: Ornithoptera priamus
Other Names: Jade Green Birdwing Butterfly
Origin: Asia

A lot of butterfly pictures as of late. Hmm, I wonder if it’s because I have a season pass to the Butterfly Zoo at Tiverton, RI resulting in frequent visits?

Especially when a new species arrives. This week it was the Jade Green Birdwing Butterfly (Ornithoptera priamus). A magnificently large colorful butterfly.
